Travel Tuesday: Thompson Chicago ...

This week we're back to the east coast at the Thompson Hotel in Chicago ... I've lived on the east coast for almost 15 years and I still haven't visited the windy city. The British designer Tara Bernerd wanted guests to feel like " a winter's coat being lifted off your shoulders"as they walked into the hotel. The designer achieves this feeling by keeping the bedrooms spacious, embracing the city's skyline with floor to ceiling windows and using a mix palette of contemporary and vintage. The result is something sophisticated that is still raw and edgy! Images via

Travel Tuesday: Rosewood London ...

I get giddy and excited when I come by hotels like these ... the ability to maintain the integrity of an old building while making it functional and modern at the same time is a real challenge. Designer Tony Chi has respected this neoclassical landmark building built in 1914, located on London's High Holborn, by preserving its Edwardian heritage and including it as part of the hotel's design. Love the modern, monochromatic look used in the guest bedrooms and the opulent dining and bar area ... take a look. Images via

Off to Sevilla ... Hotel Alfonso XIII

I love renovation projects that can preserve the historical context and details of a place while making it current with our times. Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville, Spain was built in 1928 and named after the king who commissioned the hotel. The design and architecture  reflects Spain’s past, blending Moorish, Castilian and Andalusian styles. The hotel was recently renovated to provide guests with all the modern amenities while enjoying authentic details like wrought-iron balustrades, stone arches, frescoes and decorative wood carvings.

The J.K Place Roma is a stylish and chic hotel located on Via Monte d’Oro, a few steps away from the glamorous Via Condotti & Spanish Steps. The 17th century building was originally home to the Architectural School of the Sapienza University of Rome. The suites are decorated with wood-paneled walls, Italian marble bathrooms and canopied rosewood beds. Stylish, Elegant & Sophisticated ... this hotel embraces historical and contemporary design beautifully.

Rock Out Palm Springs ...

The new Hard Rock Hotel opened its doors last year in Palm Springs, California. In keeping with the Palm Spring vibe, the design has a huge influence from the Coachella music and art festival.  The hotel is very contemporary and eclectic with lots of art that reflect the pop culture vibe the owners were going for. The attention to detail is impressive with torched recycled wood flooring, wood paneling on walls and painted ceiling. Looks like a whole lot of fun and if you are heading to Palm Springs, this place is on the Must See list.

The London Edition evokes La Belle Epoque ...

The London Edition is the latest venture for hotelier Ian Schrager known for coining the 'boutique hotel' category in hospitality. The London Edition has taken over one of the grandest landmarks in London, the old Berners street hotel, off of Oxford street. The design evokes La Belle Epoque with a mixture of  classic luxury and modern lifestyle. In the elegant lobby, furnishings range from formal to rustic, with Christian Liaigre black metal pieces and Salvador Dalí inspired floor lamps. The hotel is grand and inviting where the old world is brought back to life while paying tribute to the historic significance of the property. Take a look ...
