Trending Thursday ...

This year returns back to stripes, angles and geometry ... I like the dramatic combination of a classic black and white look.

Adding accessories and finishes like these to a space gives a very fun, casual, elegant and timeless look.

Mustard on you ...

I was inspired by Gucci's Spring 13' collection for this post. I love the freshness this color brings into a space.

The chartreuse chairs stand out and liven up the dark grey tones in the background.

The color palette above is one of my favorites ... I've used it in my home and absolutely still love it:)

If you're still skeptical maybe just use the color as an accent like the throw pillows and artichoke table lamps.

Using wall paper on a frame instead of directly applying to a wall is a clever idea for those of us who don't want to deal with the process of stripping and damaging our walls.

Nice controlled use of the chartreuse green paint ... maybe a little clinical in my opinion but a nice fresh feel to it.

Glitz, Glamour and our A-List Cocktails …

With all the Oscar Buzz this weekend we couldn’t help but join in the excitement - two cocktail recipes crafted especially for Fresh + Twist readers … we have a his and hers version - for him an ‘Oscar's Old Fashioned’ and for her the ‘Oscar Crush’. Enjoy!

Oscar Crush

1 oz Vodka (or flavored vodka)
1/2 oz fresh lemon
1/2 oz simple syrup
1 oz ruby red grapefruit juice
1/2 oz St. Germain liquor
Champagne to fill

Take a lemon or lime wedge (any citrus will do) and moisten the rim of the champagne flute. On a plate, pour a small amount  sugar. Lightly place the edge of the champagne flute in the sugar mix, evenly spin the glass around to create a balanced sugar rim. In a mixing glass, add all ingredients, except champagne, over ice. Stir. Strain into a champagne flute. Slowly add champagne to fill. Garnish with grapefruit twist.

Oscar's Old Fashioned

1 sugar cube
2 dashes grapefruit bitters
2 dashes angostura bitters
2 oz 100% Anejo Tequila

In an old fashioned glass, place a sugar cube. Add 2 dashes of angostura bitters & 2 dashes of grapefruit bitters. Add a cap full of club soda, then muddle the cube until it breaks up. Add the Anejo tequila. Stir until the sugar is slightly dissolved. Add ice, and stir some more. For a garnish, zest the top of the cocktail with a twist of grapefruit rind / orange rind or lemon rind. Add maraschino cherries to garnish. Drink and Enjoy!

50 Shades of Grey ...

I know what you’re thinking: hot, saucy, sexy … but it’s NONE of that. I’m literally feeling the grey or dark side of 50 shades

Mykonos Blue ...

Fashion Week is here and I am inspired by the runways for Fall/Winter 2013. I see a lot of ocean inspired colors or “Mykonos Blue” as the industry calls it. Lots of deep blue, navy, purple & teal … here are a few of my picks.

Every time I think of nautical inspired interiors the J.K Place Capri comes to my mind. This hotel is a decorator & designer's dream ... from the architectural details to the accessories and furnishings

The Deep Blue paint color pulls you into the space while emphasizing the wainscoting panel details.

Love the Ikat throw pillows and stripped rug ...  a definite beach house feel, this one's a luxury rental property in St Barts.
