Travel Tuesday: Off to the Amalfi Coast ...

La Sireneuse is a luxury boutique hotel located in the center of the picturesque town of Positano overlooking the breathtaking views of the Amalfi coast. Privately owned by the Sersale family, it maintains the charm of an eighteenth century summer residence that it once was. Rooms are decorated with local antiques and artifacts that the Sersale family have collected over the years. John Steinbeck said of the Sirenuse and Positano “It bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you’re there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone”. All images via www.sirenuse.it

Trending Thrusday: Geometric Patterns

Geometric prints are all the rave right now, they can be seen in a variety of colors and palettes and range from rugs to furniture and artwork to accessories. The key in combining these dramatic and bold patterns is to balance the color scheme using neutral tones, mixed in with bright accents. Also avoid using to many patterns at the same time as that might create a sense of chaos.

Mirror Mirror ... on the floor!

I love a lean free standing mirror that rests effortlessly against a wall ... not only does it bring light into a space but it also adds depth and drama especially if it is reflecting something beautiful on the other end. Just adding one bold piece sets the tone to a room ...

Trending Thursday: Rethink your floral

I know what you're thinking ... 'boring' but it doesn't have to be ... here are a few rules to make sure that these patterns don't make you feel like you are back in your grandmother's house - keep it simple, use it sparingly, go for 'abstract florals' or 'chinoiserie floral' or even better, stick to an understated classic floral motif.
